I’m now around the 28 week mark and I’ve never been so uncomfortable in my life. I look absolutely silly sitting here at work. I have a pillow between me and the desk and a heating pad on my back. I try to get up and make a lap around the office every 30 mins to an hour, but it still is not helping my back. I just cannot get comfortable, no matter how I sit, lay or walk.
Any advice from moms out there? I’m thinking about getting a maternity belt. Did anyone get relief from these?

Start trolling those mommy blogs for ideas, babydoll. I’m sorry that I can’t be of more help in this capacity.
You could try getting down on all fours and doing the “mad cat” stretch: Arch your back, then relax it, and repeat up to about 40 times (or so – you might want to work up to that). Then lay on your side or in a “frog sit” (legs under you, belly between them, arms under head for support) for about ten minutes. Pelvic tilts against a wall (lifting your pelvis then flattening your back against the wall) might also help.
The back pain isn’t fun, I’m sorry to say, but strengthening the muscles might help a little. So might a warm bath with Epsom salt or a battery-powered massager (I found one at Walgreens for $10).
I’m about to finish my 38th week. My back really gets painful when I walk around too much or do too much housework, but a little stretching seems to go a long way. That, or a little Tylenol and a backrub from Hubby.
OH – Tiger Balm is safe to use when pregnant, and it feels pretty good, too.
Sorry to just pop out of the woodwork. I’ve been reading your blog for a little while now, after I found it when looking for Wordpress themes and saw that you were pregnant. You’re almost in your third trimester! Congrats!
Hi!
When I was working in an office while pregnant a seat cushion helped make me a bit more comfortable. Something similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/Visco-Memory-Foam-Coccyx-Cushion/dp/B0002DLY3M. There are different varieties, but they do the same thing.
Good luck!
I had terrible back pain wih my son and I never got a maternity belt I actually was told my a friend that Yoga relieved her chronic back pain. After enduring one more week of the pain I gave in and bought ‘Prenatal Yoga With Shiva Rea’ it’s a DVD and was the best investment I mad in getting rid of the back pain.
