Having Baby … BRB

So tonight at 6pm I am going to start being induced for labor.  Thursday of last week we had an ultrasound.  Chloe weighed 8lbs and 7oz.  The doctor said this weight can be off by 2lbs either way.  Because I do not want to birth a 10lb baby and our home remedies of walking, sex, and gravel roads are not working, we have decided to go with induction.

At 6pm I will check into the hospital and be given a prostaglandin to thin my cervix and start dilation. Once I am dilated to around 3cm, they will start the pitocin.  We are expecting to have a baby girl sometime tomorrow morning.

Of course, I will be posting a few bajillion photos of our little princess once we are back home.  I would take my laptop (the hospital has wireless internet), but I already packed half the house to take with us.  I don’t think I have room in the car :)

Treasure Shopping

I have always been a huge fan of yard sales, flea markets and consignment shops.  Sure a lot of the stuff you find at these places are just junk, but it’s kind of like treasure hunting.  I normally find one great deal of the day.

Twice a year there is a huge children’s consignment sale here in town at the fair grounds.  They are very picky about the items they will take.  For clothes, they must be in style, clean, no holes, must have all the buttons, ect.  As for toys and furniture, it must have been bought within the past 5 years, clean and 100% in-tact.   I decided to check the sale out this past weekend to see what I could find for Chloe.  I found a lot more than one treasure this time!  I wrote a check for $47.  For this $47 I got:

  1. Snoogle Pregnancy Pillow for $10 (the most expensive item I bought. They run between $35-60 new)
  2. 24 Onesies.
  3. 4 pairs of cotton pants
  4. 2 gowns
  5. 1 bib
  6. 2 pairs of mittens
  7. 1 cute little outfit with the tags still on it
  8. 2 dresses
  9. 1 skirt (my favorite!)
  10. 1 denim jumper
  11. 1 pair of khaki capris
  12. 1 robe

Most of these items were gap, carters, old navy, ect.  I think I did pretty good treasure shopping!

It’s a Girl!

Well, Chloe finally turned that certain way to show us that she is a indeed a little girl! Most of the old wives tales have been telling us that for months :)

Chloe Profile

Now, getting to the doctor’s office today was an adventure. First, we had to travel to Little Rock for today’s appointment. It’s between 2 and a half to 3 hours away. We got about, oh 10 minutes from the doctor’s office and the car just stopped in the middle of the highway. We were in the middle lane of traffic entering the highway from our right. It took a good 20 minutes just to get room to back the car off the middle of the road. The car would not go forward, period. I then use my handy dandy road side service on my cell phone to call a tow truck to just get off the side of the road so my dad could come pick us and the car up. We get to a McDonalds, Mitchell takes the tire off to look at it closer and sees that a bolt had come off my breaks and that had locked the tire. Simple enough, let’s go find a bolt… not so simple. Luckily there was an auto parts store only a block away, we walked over to see about the bolt. No luck. They called the closest GM dealership and they would have to order the part. The GM dealership calls around and finds the bolt we need at a cadillac dealership. Mitchell’s step brother lives right outside Little Rock so he was able to take us to get the part Mitchell gets it put on. We are now 5 hours late to the doctor’s appointment.

I had called the doctor first thing when we broke down. Luckily they were able to work me in during the afternoon. We get to the doctor’s office and they perform the ultrasound. I could not stop coughing during the ultrasound. It was so bad, they went to get me a glass of water. Then finally the moment we have been waiting 5 months for, we see it’s a baby girl! After the ultrasound we are directed to a room to wait on the doctor. During this time, the alarm came on directing everyone to exit the building through the stairs. Did I mention we were on the 7th floor? So my pregnant ass walks down 7 flights of stairs thinking at least we are going down and not up. We get outside and wait to see what is going on. The fire trucks then come and cleared the building. I guess someone pulled the fire alarm. Now the elevators are down. So I get to walk back up 7 flights of stairs.

We finished the appointment and all is still looking great for the baby!

14 hours later we arrive home. Mitchell kept talking about our adventure. I told him I was just ready to go home to the shire.
